This is a poem pasted on a wooden frame which my daughter gave to me as her gift years back. I have treasured this since then because I love the message that the poem conveys…to all mothers!

” I wish that we could somehow slow the seasons as they come and go. I laugh and then I sadly sigh when thinking of those times gone by.

A loving mother through those years, you cared for me and calm my fears. I treasured when you held my hand or taught me how to take a stand.

You never had great wealth or fame but better still was your good name. Examples that you firmly set, are lessons that I won’t forget.

Have you been too angry? Are you prone to anger? How must we defuse rage?

Lately  in the internet and on  televisions, one of the many intriguing issues  is the brawl in an airport wherein prominent personalities where involved. It started  when an angry  lady celebrity lashed out at an employee for some failures…( and so on and so forth)…

Admittedly, anger is completely normal and we’ve all felt it. No matter how we avoid it, things will happen that will cause us angry. However, not surprisingly, when it gets out of control, it can lead to problems like hypertension, depression and even destruction.

How then must we handle our anger?

A research showed that ” family background plays a role. Typically, people who are easily angered come from families that are disruptive,chaotic and not skilled about emotional communications”. Moreover, “some people are really more hotheaded than the others”.

I want to share to you two passages from the Bible which say: Anger is a brief madness; and- A fool gives full vent to his anger but a wise man keeps himself under control”. So when you are angry, just choose from any of the two types of person you would want to become—a fool or a wise man. The choice is yours.

I am happy that one of my professions is teaching. It involved more than standing infront of the classroom. I enjoyed this job so much and felt so fulfilled when I motivated many students to learn.

Being a Chemistry instructor, my classes were constantly engaged on researching and experimenting on matters  related to the subject area. There were  many apparatus that were found  in our laboratory. I just hope that for better precision and more speedy sample preparations, sophisticated analytical and digital lab scales are now being made available to the students in our school.

“One good teacher in a lifetime may change a delinquent into a solid citizen.”

This is the question : to go on vacation or not?

Really,  getting away from home is not that easy. I am caught in the situation of having so much work to do at home while my husband has too much things to do at work. Our “time-away”, including our evenings out, has lessened as we grow older.

Relaxation is something we deserve for being so workaholic and having  tiresome routines. It is a form of “escape” and physical rejuvenation.

Maybe, my husband and I will find great time having vacation together by the time he retires from work . Surely, by that time, he will be receiving a fixed annuity which will provide us a safe means of savings after retirement as well as a guaranteed income.

Let’s take a break and relax  because  life’s small pleasures are important to our emotional well-being. Happy safe trip !

The Lord is sweet. He has arranged events and placed people in our lives for a reason.

On April 6th, my husband’s mother was unexpectedly brought to the hospital. She is  a septuagenarian. She was suffering from heart failure and pneumonia. On her 8th day in the hospital, we have thought of calling a priest to give her the last sacrament, the ‘extreme unction’. Miraculously, she has survived.

The Lord’s sweetest GIFT to the family is mother’s second life. He showered the family with the sweetest GIFT ever. He did not permit mother to depart from us..

My husband and son celebrated their birthdays last week. Though celebrated simply, the natal days of my husband and son were spent happily because of the wonderful gifts and blessings that we had received.

Today Lord help us to focus our thoughts upon our blessings, our GIFTS, our opportunities.

God bless us always. Amen.

Are your children “Joystick junkies”? If I observe children nowadays heavily exposed to video games, I couldn’t help but reminisce my younger years when computers were still “unknown” gadgets.

Play is important to children. When they play, they use toys. The second oldest toy in the world after dolls is yoyo. One fascinating fact is that it started with a young boy from the Philippines named Pedro Flores who moved to the USA in 1920. From then on, the toy enjoyed periods of popularity especially among kids.

Admittedly, playing video games may have its benefits but it takes a physical toll. Enjoy playing yoyo instead. It’s fun and a great form of exercise.

Our family lives  a hectic life. Our dinner time  is not only a  time to eat . We look at it as an opportunity to unwind and spend time with our family members as we talk about how each other is doing. During the graceful evenings, we usually enjoy each others company as we sit in our outdoor chaise lounges in the cozy balcony and feel the cool breeze of the sea ( ‘coz our house is situated in a quiet street near the beach).

Sharing good food, enjoying a graceful evening with the family is great big time!

Plato  said, “Music gives a soul to the universe; wings to the mind; flight to the imagination; and life to everything!”

I like to strum my guitar without any EMG pickups but for my friend who is the lead guitarist in a band, tone and reliability are at the core of his music. For him, musical systems can also get more complex. He uses Emg accessories on passive pickups.

Surely, it’s a guarantee that he’ll get great results – lively music. And one good thing about music: “Life without music is like life without colors.”

Once, my job entailed inspection of water sources in rural areas. I had to trek difficult terrains to reach the sources of potable waters like spring water. At the end of the day, I suffered painful blisters, pinched toes and other foot injuries caused by inappropriate hiking shoes. It took me a few weeks to recover from my pains and discomforts.

Lately, I became an expert in shopping for high-quality footwear designed to provide comfort, support and protection I need especially in rigorous and wet areas.

It is very essential to use appropriate footwear because it can add to our margin of safety in rugged terrains and there is great benefit from a perfect precision – fitting shoes. Really, shoes matter!

I remember one of my rides in a motorbike with my husband. We traveled for almost 90 miles and when we got back home, I felt my neck was aching due to the weight of my helmet.

After that incident, I refused to go with him to a long motorbike- drive anymore. My husband is still actively going mobile with it. He procured a better and of high quality heated motorcycle clothing including his gloves, helmet , etc. He still continues to encourage me to come with him for a drive in the rural areas… of course, this time with better gadgets on.

Maybe tomorrow, we will be again enjoying the ride… ” two for the road”…
