♦

dengue-feverThe mosquito-borne disease continue to wreak havoc in our place claiming at least eight lives of children last month. From January to September of this year, there were more dengue cases recorded compared to the same period last year. Local hospitals have been jam-packed with dengue patients especially children.

The rapidly increasing number of cases has alarmed everyone prompting the youths to render clean-up drives around the community.  Each one has been enjoined to help clean his own surroundings with breeding sites of such mosquitoes. This specie thrives  in stagnant waters and bite usually in the morning. The Province has formed groups to conduct misting operations in every town.

There are many problems which imperil the health of our children nowadays. Malnutrition and other respiratory diseases among children are also rampant. Every member of the community must offer collaborative effort to help protect the health of our children. One leading cause of respiratory illnesses of children is the smoking populace. Smoking is a great health hazard. Every smoker must be responsible enough so as not to harm anyone. One alternative to smoking tobacco is electronic cigarette. It is a smoking cessation device which attempts to deliver the experience of smoking without or greatly reduced adverse health effects usually associated with tobacco smoke.

Let us all help potect and save lives especially those of the children. The life we save might be that of our own children.
