I was saddened by this news over the local tv station last Tuesday, July 26 , about a turbo-prop military transport plane of Morocco crashed into a mountain in the southern region of this country killing 80 people ( servicemen, families ). It is one of the worst air disasters in Moroccan history. Their official State news agency said the crash was due to bad weather conditions. The plane was only 6 miles away from its designated landing base in the remote mountainous area of Guelmim in the disputed region of Western Sahara located about 515 miles south of the capital of RABAT.
***It was on July 26 ( same date , what a coincidence ) two years back, when I was booked to depart to Morocco ( expected arrival Morocco time 12:13 pm July27 ). As viewed from plane’s tv, we passed by many places some of which are : Madrid, Rome, Athens, Tripoli, Algeria, Gibraltar …many are mountainous areas and deserts.
I had fond memories of my vacation in this country and I went back home in the middle of October. ( I’ve been trying to insert two pics taken in Morocco but … )
