Refuge

♦

When I checked my email the other day, I found out that three of my Filipina friends emailed me about of the deadliest cyclone ever that lately entered the Philippines. The death toll was at almost a thousand in the official tally of  the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

My heart bleeds to hear such a shocking news. A huge number of lives were lost.  Many families lost their homes and properties.  The destruction wreaked by the storm has aggravated the poverty situation of the people.

The people were caught flatfooted in the face of the rampaging floodwaters. Bagyong Sendong severely hit the country and caused so much devastation .

Disaster unpreparedness, ignorance and ineptitude may have caused the never-ending tragedies on land.

We can blame the government for this or maybe the people for living along river banks or maybe  the agencies which permit mining activities  or the continued massive cutting of trees … but we can never ever blame GOD.

He is our refuge!

“Once upon the realms of infinite glory, down to the depths of our ruin and loss, Jesus came seeking  – O Love’s sweet story – came to the MANGER, the shame and the cross.”
