If you ask me what my favorite number is, I would immediately give you eight. They say that for business-minded people, round figures or circles connote money. There are two circles in that number which means good luck especially in business.
For me, the number ‘eight’ means more than good luck. I was born on September 8. My eldest daughter gave me a special gift on my day two years ago because she gave birth to her only daughter exactly on the same day. My granddaughter and I have the same birthday, the eighth of September.
Yesterday was September 8. Early in the morning , I went to attend a Catholic mass for thanksgiving for my fifty-something years of existence and also for giving our family our first granddaughter. For us Christians, this day is also very special- the birthday of Mama Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
We had chicken curry and spaghetti for lunch. In the evening, we dined out in a restaurant where native delicacies were served. The day has been so special and different compared to my previous birthday celebrations. Although there were no big parties held , I enjoyed the day with my family and few selected family friends.
I was so relaxed and had no pressures during the day although, actually, our laundry has been piling up due to bad weather here and something was wrong with our washing machine. The service center needs to procure few Wascomat parts. We were assured, however, that after a few days, it will be okay because they already placed an order for the Wascomat parts that we needed.
What made this birthday so different? Well, I slept very relaxed that night. This time what matters most to me now are the people sharing the day with me, my family. (I miss the family of my eldest daughter and my other son who are now living abroad.) After all, I pray for more birthdays to come for me and good health for my grandchild Georyl.
