It’s Sunday and once again we are on live streaming over station DYKA 801 kHz. Welcome to today’s episode of ‘Family and Life Apostolate Hour’. This is your host, Dens. Please stay tuned because we’ll be discussing about top reasons why students cheat during examinations. This program comes to you live for an hour.
This day is a special day because we have special guests in our program. Aside from the couple, Lot and Nene, who are both teachers in a secondary school, we have a youth leader and an active organizer of our SADE ( Sons and Daughters Encounter) Organization. So together with our “Senior citizens” guests , with us now is a “Junior citizen” (LOL) member, Jeoffrey.
Cheating is rampant in schools . (I should know that after having been also a teacher for so long. ) It is a fact that a majority of students cheat on a test doing it more than two times during examinations.
Lot says,” It’s time to get serious about our children’s character. Beware : cheating has been prevalent in public as well as in private schools. Why does a child resort to cheating during examinations?”
Jeoffrey says,” The peer pressure- maybe he is in company where everyone else cheats. The low skill level- maybe his parents have high academic expectations on him.”
Nene says,” Overscheduling- what with a lot of household chores and computer games to play! There is no more time to study.”
(How can we cheat in our Biology Class when were given only 5 seconds in a microscope to identify the organism in there? I even developed fear upon seeing any of the microscope parts and fear in failing in my Biology class. Although of course , I passed it with flying colors.)
A majority of students would agree that they would cheat on a test so we need to turn this trend around . Character is taking a backseat. So what do we need to do now?
Jeoffrey quips,”As a child, I remember Father gathering us to pray during the angelus-the Catholic time of praying at six in the evening. I look back at Tatay’s spirituality. If from childhood , the child grows to be God-fearing, he tends to grow up with high integrity. Honest parents – you are the models of your children.”
So there you are my dear parents. This lesson in life comes from a biblical principle: our honesty has a tremendous impact on our children. Our children’s lifestyle is a reflection of their parents’ lifestyle.
So bye for now and thank you for listening. Godbless.
