Are you acidic? We may as well go back to basics in our understanding about acid and alkaline.
If our body fluids become more acidic, the pH falls and if the body fluids become alkaline, the pH rises. The term “pH” is a measure of the degree (0 to 14) of the acidity(below 7) and alkalinity(above 7) of a solution. Normal pH is around 7. In our body, the solution is the body fluids. Our body must always maintain its acid- base balance at all times.
It is very important to know the pH of our urine. Generally, its normal range is between 6.7 to 7. If you exhibit a low pH urine level, your body is too acidic. Lesser and higher values signals a “must” visit to our physicians.I just wanna share to you my list of some of the acid and alkaline foods. A tip to follow:Let’s PLAN our diet, eating for a balanced pH. Here’s my list:
Acid-forming foods= Beef, pork, white rice, milk, cereals
Very acid-forming foods= Alcohol, chicken, coffee and black tea, eggs ,fish
Alkaline- forming foods= fruits and vegetables
Very alkaline-forming foods= coconut water, spinach, dates, raisins
If we are too acidic , we must eat lots of alkaline- forming foods in order to raise our pH level. We have to eat a lot of fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits. All fresh vegetables and fruits help maintain a neutral or slightly alkaline pH. Also, always stay hydrated by drinking enough water and not soft drinks, alcohol nor caffeinated beverages. Water with a squeeze of lemon has an alkalinizing effect. But remember,it is always best to consult your physician and never use alkalizing foods in lieu of medications.
