Keeping children safe from abuse

♦

Our group is composed of Catholic couples and is called  FALA- Family and Life Apostolic Movement . The children of our member-couples who are below 18 years old and single are grouped as SADE- Sons and Daughters Encounter.

These children group together to do some church- related activities. One specific activity they do is to host an hour- long radio program once- a- week on keeping them safe from all kinds of abuse including drug abuse. One time, they discussed in the program about a boy who was charged of slaying his own parents after he smoked marijuana. ( By the way, for those of you who have family members with similar problems, we’ve got this effective and efficient marijuana rehab at Malibu Horizon.)

Apparently, parents  know very well that children are very much vulnerable and that they have all the rights to feel safe. So, in order to protect them from becoming victims of abuse and drug addiction, starting in our home, let’s create an environment that teaches them a protective and responsive behavior skills.

We, parents are the most influential persons in our family. So let us lead our children in the right path right from the very day when we become parents.
