Today- a Sunday, our wall clock says it’s 12:00 noon but my computer shows it’s 1:00pm. Daylight saving time once again has been adapted. People set their clocks an hour ahead at the start of spring until we have to set again our clocks back an hour , in the fall. The time change took effect today, on a Sunday morning. On the succeeding days, day time will be longer and the weather will become milder.
The dictionary defines equinox as either of the two moments in the year when the sun is exactly above the equator so that when the sun crosses the equator, the day and night are of equal length all over the earth.
What made me consider the word “equinox”? Basically, there are 2 kinds of equinox namely: first- the vernal or March equinox ; and second- the autumnal or September equinox. I was just curious (or was “one of the forlorn figures at the bus stop”?) that I made a correlation of these times to my vacation time. ( Sounds non- sense to you?– hope not.) The very first time I stepped on this northern part of the hemisphere was the very day of the autumnal or September equinox while today is day of vernal or March equinox, when “all my bags are packed…am ready to go”. See?
In spring time- days start to get longer… flowers will bloom…the birds will start to sing throughout the day… people will have the best times for picnics…but here I am bidding adieu… “Am leaving on a jet plane , don’t know when I’ll be back again…”
Till we meet again guys. Thank you so much.
