Tough Times On Father’s Day

♦

Happy Fathers’ Day to all fathers!

I have a feeling that my father and the family will celebrate this day very differently from our previous celebrations. This will be our first celebration without my mom because just recenty, my family grieved for her loss. During our previous celebrations, mother was always around to grace the celebration with him. I could still recall the fun , the laughter and the joy we had when all of my siblings gathered together as we greeted him.

Tonight as I entered our ancestral home to be with our close friends and relatives to pray for the soul of my departed mother, I saw my father sitting beside an empty chair in the terrace, with eyes closed. He might have slept with emptiness in his heart; however, I remain hopeful that mother, wherever she maybe now, will continue to be around, even in spirit, to grace this affair with him. We aren’t rich or famous but the love and nurturing she gave us and the legacy she left us is immeasurable.

Mother, on Fathers’ Day, be with us as your spirit lives on in us still to this day. You are the greatest mom I’ve ever known.

Mother and Father, we feel so blessed to have you both in our lives.
