8 Things To Consider For A Stress-Free Moving Day

Move in days are stressful, and planning one can be even more so. It is hard to say goodbye to a house you have lived in for a while, and it is even harder if you are raised your children there so far. However, if you are moving toward pastures new, you are surely doing that for a positive reason. You have identified that life could be better in your new location, and that holds within it everything to be excited for.

Do not let the responsibility wear you down. Instead, take care of everything with a jovial, positive outlook, and you are actually sure to do a better preparation job. If you have kids, the contingencies you need to plan for could be a little bit more important than you realize. You do not want to turn up to the new house and realize the energy bills have not been set up, and you have no heating or hot water.

Take care of these 8 considerations before you move in, to help your family and you make the most of this memorable, life-changing event.

1. Ride with the Movers

Assign one person to ride with the movers to your property, and give them a key to open the place if needs be. Use a professional service like Navis Pack & Ship to help smooth out this process.

There’s a chance you might get stuck in traffic or have to deal with another situation, and it’s bad form to leave your delivery guys waiting around for you to turn up. As soon as they arrive at the property, they should ideally be placing your belongings within it.

2. Have All the Paperwork Taken Care Of

Make sure before you actually move into the property, you do own it, or all of your mortgage paperwork is approved. The deed must be yours for you to enter and call it home.

3. Plenty of Sleep

Ensure you get plenty of sleep the night before, and your children to. Go to sleep hours early if necessary. Dealing with a change of life plan with your family is difficult to navigate confidently when you are bleary eyed.

4. Travel Preparations

How long is the journey? Will you have to stay somewhere overnight during your travels? If so, pre-book and plan effectively.

5. Food & Drink

Make sure you eat a hearty breakfast, lunch during the travel, and enough food to feed the family the first night you arrive, just in case there’s an issue setting up in the property the first night.

6. Car Maintenance

Ensure your car is well prepared for the long journey, especially if you are carrying some of your belongings within it.

7. Clean the Home You’re Leaving

It is good custom to leave the home you are selling in great condition. Give it a clean to the best of your ability and politely ask the removal people to leave it in a good state for the next owners. Leave your house with a respectful candor.

8. Inspect

Make sure that your property is inspected before you move in. Make sure all of the energy tariffs are up and available, and ensure that the house is safe and secure. Ensure the house in clean and free of pests. You will be able to find a home inspection service to help you with this.

Overall, remember to instill an attitude of possibilities and adventure in your family members before you move. This will greatly help increase the happiness of your entire unit as you set up your new life.
