Making A Perfect Living Room

♦

Our living rooms are the hub of our homes. They are where we congregate to watch TV, unwind, and hang out with our friends or family. Therefore, it must be an appealing space to enter, and if you are looking for a few ways to get more out of your living space, then look no further. Here are some simple and effective approaches and a few ideas if you are really looking to give the space a complete shake-up.

If your living room window is overlooking a garden, going for some patio doors will give the space the opportunity to breathe in the summer months. You can get ones that open inward or a sliding door for ease, but you will see the difference it can make if your room lacks in natural light. Many houses have the problem of only getting the sun on one side, so doing this works to offset the balance.

The fireplace tends to be a focal point for the living room when it is not fighting with the TV for attention! One way to counteract this is to place the TV next to the fireplace or on a wall perpendicular to it. If space is an issue for your TV, making an alcove next to the fireplace will form a nice space for the TV to rest.

If you are looking to redo your living room completely from the ground up, you should go for flooring that works with the aesthetics you are going for. Rustic wooden floorboards look nice but they can be a bit of a problem when it comes to keeping the heat in which you need if you are going for the cozy factor! Going for laminate flooring by Carpet One Newcastle or vinyl tiling by other reputable tilers will take the pressure on you having to do the job yourself. Trying laminate flooring in a light brown, you can give your living room a nice air, and it works well if you want to lay down rugs to tie the room together.

Creating a style that is new but still cozy is a fine balance to get right. One way to position the furniture is to make the items point towards each other, creating a more inviting space and will encourage conversation. A sofa is normally the bulkiest item to find space for in a living room, but if you find the “center of gravity” for the room, this is the best place to put it. The sofa will act as an anchor and provides a good starting point for the other items to go around it.

As the temptation is to put the furniture against the walls to make more space, it does not make the room too appealing! By leaving just a few centimeters for your walls to breathe a bit more, it will improve the light flow and the space. The best living rooms are a combination of style and relaxation, and by finding the right balance with your space, you can turn a dark, dank hole into a bright, bubbly haven.
