How to guide children/grand children on matters of faith

♦

As a parent, I think it is my basic obligation of parenting to steer my children’s/ grand children’s moral and religious foundation. I would be very happy if they will carry on their parents’ faith. If they drift from their faith and embrace other religions, maybe I would be sad.

How about you? As a parent, do you also  feel responsible to shape up your children’s religious foundations or you might feel otherwise? I mean, do you  just let them explore and set them free to express their sense of faith? For those readers who have yet to become parents (sooner or later), how would you like to shepherd your future children/ grand children?

I believe that there are many different ways to live our spirituality, in which ever form it takes. But remember- children may acquire religious views of their parents. So, what’s the bottom line?–parents’ example of character and FAITH is paramount! What can we give if we do not have –faith?

I hold on to being a Catholic and there’s only one God- Jesus is God!  I feel His unique power and I hope and pray for my own children and grandchildren to experience also.

That’s my philosophy of life in matters of faith.

Yes, I am very thankful that my parents gave me that base. I strayed from it for a long time, but since I have that base of belief in God, then I am hungry for it. It’s hard to do when I went on my own path for so long, and it’s a slow process getting back to where I need to be, but I am getting there. I also want Kevin to grow up with the values that I did, so I have to work harder to set an example. Great post!
